** Description changed:

Whenever I try to start Clementine player, I get kicked to the login
screen and need to log in again. I tried reinstalling the graphics
driver which allowed me to use Clementine again, but not a second
monitor. So after I fixed the settings for dual monitor, I have the old
problem again and I get logged off from my session once I try to start
  Clementine.

I have an nvidia graphics card and I have configured in xserver a
twinview to use both my notebook's screen (Lenovo ThinkPad T410) and and
external Acer monitor connected via vga at the same time. Graphics card
  is Nvidia NVS 3100m

+ (EDIT: problem also happens on startup of the spotify linux beta client
+ and with vlc media player)
