Basically, you need a newer version of the nvidia driver if you're going
to use a newer kernel (and also to support the most recent nvidia chips,
which it appears you have). The following procedure should fix you.

sudo update-pciids
sudo apt-get purge nvidia-graphics-drivers
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bumblebee/stable
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install bumblebee bumblebee-nvidia

Reboot or re-login. INstructions based on:
