AMD have dropped Radeon HD 4000 series support from their fglrx driver. See http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=amd_catalyst_legacy2 and http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTEzNDA
You will have to use the open source driver. If you need more speed from the open source driver, the upstream 3.6 kernel finally enables PCI Express 2.0 support, which has been shown to boost the performance of your Radeon HD 4650 on some OpenGL workloads. A PPA of the 3.6.2 kernel can be found at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and instructions on how to install and uninstakk it can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066147 Title: No Unity, and Compiz isnt running correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1066147/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
