Same effect here when using chrome, mostly with videos. Its an upgrade to 12.10 of a recent 12.04 install nvidia vidcard. I haven't enabled the nvidia drivers yet, running the default nouveau after the upgrade, i'll try purging whatever is left of nvidia pakages and report back.
