Hmm, X is indeed only setting up 2 pipes. The question remains is whether it is cloning one of those pipes to multiple outputs - it should be possible with the HDMI outputs. You don't mention which display is upset, which would be helpful. Can you also gather a drm.debug=6 dmesg from a failed boot?
