Public bug reported:
Obviously an initialization bug on the kernel side, probably due to a
quirky BIOS setup.
Workaround is to use the old Linux 0.99 trick ... boot Windows and then
soft boot Ubuntu, or downgrade all the way to 3.0.x kernel and Nvidia
10x driver.
This chipset never had great support, but at least it worked in 2D
before :)
If you need this particular video card to test with, find me a cheap
alternative that will fit my W510 and I'll mail it anywhere it the world
where it is needed most (Nvidia, Canonical, Linus himself, etc.) for
testing and development.

Oh and BTW your "select a package" doohickey is busted, so Xorg is
