Public bug reported:

Hi, since GTK was updated from GTK 3.6 to 3.8 at the end of last week, I
can easily crash X by clicking around in Software Center.

Specifically, the way I usually trigger it was by doing a search inside
Software Center for 'gedit' and then clicking the gedit search result
and then clicking where it says More Info. At this point X crashes and
I'm returned to the login screen.

See also bug 1163886 where many people (including me at certain times)
had trouble with Software Center crashing with the GNOME3 PPA on Raring
(which included GTK 3.8). We haven't found the root cause for that yet
and when Software Center crashed for me then it did not take down X too.

Also see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2148979 where someone
else suffered from the X-killing crash on Saucy.
