(Note: This bug is specific to Karmic for me) Upgrading my Karmic install to the packages in https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa did not solve the problem.
I actually run Jaunty with a 2.6.31 kernel and the git-driver, so I don't think it's any of them.
