Thanks a lot for the answer, Christopher! I apologize for the old BIOS. Although even after update ( $ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 0705 12/05/2013 ) the problem persists (as well as the "ACPI: BIOS _OSI(Linux) query ignored" message, should I tweak the BIOS somehow?). I should also notice it's not 100% reproducible. Sometimes everything works, sometimes login takes several minutes. Sometimes it just crashes and I get back to my session.
