Can you not switch to a virtual terminal? If so then you should be able to install the old version of the package (provided you have a network connection) via a command like "sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video- intel=2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1". The old version of the .deb might also exist in /var/cache/apt/archives in which case you could install it with dpkg.
