I gave up Ubuntu when this happened to me (ASUS a6000) when updating to (or from - not sure, it was a while ago) 8.04. With the arrival of 9.10 I expected that the problem would have been resolved. But no - just as Malthe describes above. So the problem has been around for a year or so - is there a solution? Kaspin PS I had a problem with wireless connection as well which was solved by installing a driver through Synaptics. Must stop now as the flickering screen is making my eyes water..................
