I'm experiencing the same problem. I Tried with both EXA and XAA and I will attach output from those tries.
It seems that setting Option "RenderAccel" "off" (borrowed from release notes of karmic) helps a bit; at least I can gain the desktop. But, as soon as I do something everythings hangs again and bye bye to lucid lynx. Tomorrow I'll attach output from RenderAccel=off.
