Hi everybody ! I am experiencing the same problem. I'm under Karmic, a fresh install, a 82852/855GM graphic card (but on a Dell 510m). The "nomodeset" workaround didn't work for me. But maybe I've missed something as in grub-pc, there is no /boot/grub/menu.lst and you have to set options in /etc/default/grub. I tried to set nomodeset on this line : GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset"
Closing the lid still freeze the system. No escape !! hard and dirty reboot is still the only way. Did anyone have any clue ? Thanks !
