Thank you for spotting the upstream bug report, I was going to ask you to test with the xorg-edgers PPA since that has a newer driver and the issue could have been fixed there, but since the upstram report is with current git, that shouldn't be necessary. You may give kernel 2.6.34-rc1 or drm-intel-next from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/?C=M;O=D a try, but I doubt it will work.
