Could you please file a new bug - with “ubuntu-bug xorg” on the boot after you've experienced a crash - for your hard-crash, as you're clearly experiencing two bugs.
It would be useful if you could attach /var/log/messages to the new bug, as this will hopefully contain the kernel log for the failed boot.
