Canonical should be looking out for their Users! and the Linux Foundation should too!!!!! I did read something that "In November 2009, the Linux Foundation released the details of a new, rewritten Linux driver that would support this chipset and Intel's other upcoming chipsets. I know I had a very ignorant reply back from Intel about the GMA500 driver, saying that it's down to the Distrobution to fix the problem.
