Can confirm that "Workaround A: Re-enable KMS" works on IBM Thinkpad X40 with: 1 add i915.modeset=1 as paramter when booting from CD and then -----install OS on /dev/sda1 and mount it 2 chroot /mnt/sda1 3 echo options i915 modeset=1 | tee /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf 4 reboot
