same here, everything was ok under karmic, now from time to time X restart in compatilibily mode (with a half a screen stranslation, but it's another issue) and i have to accept to switch to the driver (vesa?), when i go back into my session I re run the nvidia-xconfig utility and enjoy some time with the driver…
