@doctordruidphd First of all, the fact that X starts (as you can see kdm) is a clear sign that you're not experiencing the same issue any more.
Furthermore, as I said in bug #548362, installing the driver from the nvidia installer must have left your system in a broken state (as you're not using the alternatives system any more). See the following comment: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/548362/comments/37 At this point I suggest that you either keep using the nvidia installer or that you perform a clean installation of Ubuntu and use only our packages. -- nvidia-current 195.36.15 + kernel 2.6.32 + dual cards crashes system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573557 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
