Piotr, I'm sorry to hear it didn't work.  But it does seem to do
*something*, which suggests that there is at least a chance that some
combination of quirks including --quirk-test will solve the problem.

Here is a list of possible video quirk handler options.  I found the
original solution (for Jaunty only, unfortunately) by trial and error
with this list.

  --quirk-dpms-on
  --quirk-dpms-suspend
  --quirk-radeon-off
  --quirk-reset-brightness
  --quirk-s3-bios
  --quirk-s3-mode
  --quirk-vbe-post
  --quirk-vbemode-restore
  --quirk-vbestate-restore
  --quirk-vga-mode-3
  --quirk-none
