I'm going to wait a little. Now the system is running without KMS support and the performance is pretty much the same as in Ubuntu 9.10.
I'll retest with xorg ver. 1.9 and Kernel ver. 2.6.35 when they're pulled in the Ubuntu Maverick repo.
