Still not resolved, i also have installed the nvidia 256.35 driver and i'm using the 2.6.32-24 kernel. And had this since the beta as well. This issue along with some other very annoying issues (Unable to shutdown, mount external storage/smb shares, wireless dropouts) are making me rethink my move to Ubuntu in the first place. 10.04 is definitely the worse release since 7.10!
