Glad U guys resolved the issue!

For those on whose machines the bug "returns" occasionally(it did on mine!) :
I have added a keyboard shortcut via System->Preferences->Keyboard Shortcuts 
that had this command:

gconftool-2 --set --type boolean
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled true

It just saves time U know... ;)

Oh, BTW, I am on Maverick Meerkat x32 Beta. NO TRACE OF THE PROBLEM...
