Happened again with a current live maverick usb stick booted via loopmount. Details: It happened when I plugged in the usb umts modem. I had done not much more than open the resources tab of system monitor (which makes the bug easy to see). Continuously moving the mouse makes graphics update smooth again. Pressing a key like shift does not make it quite as smooth.
