I think it depends on the tool you use to download your file(s). Also, if you are using *nix and didn't setup a swap partition, I don't think the download data will be written to your SSD. However, if you use BT download and Windows OS, it's probably to write the download data to your SSD.

That's just what I think how the downloading work.
