assuming that it built ok, copy the binary into somewhere like
~/grass/addons/, and in your .bashrc set
export GRASS_ADDON_PATH=/home/you/grass/addons
basically the executable just needs to be in the $PATH somewhere.
as for g.extension, we are working on the problem. your best bet for using
it is to work with the latest 6.5svn with grass built from source code.
hopefully we'll have a less demanding version which only needs the
grass-dev package soon. (we are close, just need to perfect the recipe)
