I followed the steps as suggested by the link and a couple of errors
came up after issuing "make"
....
....
-rpath /usr/local/lib \
-no-undefined \

libtool: link: unable to infer tagged configuration
libtool: link: specify a tag with `--tag'
make[1]: *** [libgdal.la] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/alassane/Downloads/gdal-1.9.1'
make: *** [check-lib] Error 2
Any suggestion to fix this?
