It's something on the todo list, there was issues when building with
recent gdal. But I do not have any date for this. :( Will try to spend
some time on this in the next weeks. But I can't test any new mrsid sdk.

I believe he is referring to the lack of the libgdal-mrsid package,
available for older Ubuntu releases in the ubuntugis repository.
