You will need to run:
gksudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
and edit it so that the driver line reads:
Driver "radeon"
This is the open source driver that ships with a default install of
Ubuntu.
If you visit
www.ati.com
You may find that the proprietary driver supports your card.
