actionparsnip proposed the following answer:
No, the nameserver lines are to be pasted into gedit when it loads, they
are extra name servers. nameserver is not a command
try this instead if gedit is giving you grief:
sudo nano /etc/resolv.conf
add the lines specified by typing them EXACTLY (important)
then press CTRL+X
press Y
press enter
you will now have added those lines to the file.
you can now run:
sudo /etc/init.d/networkorking restart
and it will be usable.
