Question #76561 on Ubuntu changed:

Status: Open => Solved
John Hagerman confirmed that the question is solved:
Hey - solved my own problem - but I'm not exactly sure how.
Being a convert from Windows, it never occurred to me to try TTYS0 (the0!) in
the efax settings - and that seems to be the only problem. Alien apparently
converted the .rpm file and put it where I didn't look (and told me it couldn't
convert the file!). I found the converted file by accident and installed it,
but because I tried every TTYS EXCEPT TTYS0, it didn't work. Then I read the
README and discovered it needed TTYS0 set in efax. Bingo!
I'm learning!
