    Status: Open => Answered

Steven Danna proposed the following answer:
Please try the following:

1) Open a terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal).
2) Type the following command and then press <Enter>:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

3) You will be prompted for your password. Type your password and then
press <Enter>. Your password will not display on screen when you type,
so type carefully.

4) When the command completes a new prompt will appear. Close the
terminal and try to do whatever task gave you the error message.
