goto Applications -> Add/Remove Programs and download CompizConfig
Settings Manager (maybe called Advanced Compiz Settings Manager).
Open up the program: System -> Preferences -> CompizConfig Settings Manager
Goto General Options -> Opacity Settings
Check your settings here
When you say <alt + mousescroll> , that is equivalent to "Alt + button4"
and "Alt + button5"
