Question #77114 on Ubuntu changed: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/77114
Fernando gave more information on the question: On Step 6 when I typed in terminal gnome-alsamixer Ubuntu does not show the device ATI HDMI see attachment . When I changed everything to HDA ATI HDMI (ALSA), Ubuntu does not show the device ATI HDMI. And when I test it on System>Preferences>Sound, sound is mute (there is no sound). When I play youtube sound still come from motherboard headphone on youtube. And when play video from movie player, the video runs in mode 2 times faster without any sound. I did not install the original driver from ATI HD4870X2 becouse its extension is *.run and I clicked twice over it and it did not installed. Sound still only from motherboard headphone. There is no sound yet from ATI HD4870X2. I did not understand the step bellow: If that model option does not help, try one of these alternatives: AD1988/AD1988B/AD1989A/AD1989B 6stack 6-jack 6stack-dig ditto with SPDIF 3stack 3-jack 3stack-dig ditto with SPDIF laptop 3-jack with hp-jack automute laptop-dig ditto with SPDIF auto auto-config reading BIOS (default) On Step 4, when I changed everything to HDA ATI HDMI (ALSA), and I test it on System>Preferences>Sound, sound is mute (there is no sound). When I play youtube sound still come from motherboard headphone on youtube. And when play video from movie player, the video runs in mode 2 times faster without any sound. After I installed Realtek http://vaioubuntu.wordpress.com/2009/07/08/hdmi-sound-output-switcher-for-pulseaudio/ When I run movie player, the flash player is dead. I need to re-install flash player. But when I play movie player again, the flash player goes dead again.
