Tom proposed the following answer: Hmmm, thanks Vihar but i think it might be easier to just get Ubuntu properly installed on sdb rather than mess with the bios or try shuffling all those partitions around on sda, especially as sda1 is Dell Utilities/recovery partition and is est left where it is.
