marcobra (Marco Braida) proposed the following answer:
i suggest you to save your /home/user dir for example to the Windows partition
i think is useful to make a tar.gz file of your homedir and put it on the win
partition then install Ubuntu i suggest you to install Ubuntu Studio if you
like to play with music. http://ubuntustudio.org/
and to restore your settings from the saved directory untarring it to the new
partition.
