New question #77743 on apt in ubuntu: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+question/77743
When I installed my Lexmark X4270 in Ubuntu, it was because it used a similar driver to Lexmark Z42. In turn, the Lexmark Z42 brought up a parenthesized note that this was a basic Gutenburg driver, apparently borrowed by Lexmark. I really want to install my Lexmark X2300 printer in Ubuntu, simply because it has a uniquely fine bed scanner on it. The same logic should apply that Lexmark copied some original emulation like Gutenburg, etc, in making the 2300. If I could get some live human being to tell me what original emulation the Lexmark Z2300 was patterned after, I might be able to find a compatible listing that WOULD install in Ubuntu.
