Excellent. Please give the following commands from your terminal.
cd Desktop
ls -ls
chmod +x GoogleEarthLinux.bin
If this does not work, try
cd ~/Desktop
ls -ls
chmod +x GoogleEarthLinux.bin
I think the file GoogleEarthLinux.bin is in the Desktop sub-directory
under your home directory.
