New question #77831 on Ubuntu:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/77831

I'm using Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04, and I'm quite new Linux. I just recently got my
Benq 4300 scanner to work on Ubuntu after several reinstallations of Ubuntu.
But everytime I install a new software from synaptics (such as Gnomebaker),
Ubuntu is unable to detect the scanner anymore. When I reinstall Ubuntu all
over again, and install the scanner driver, it works well - until I use
synaptic to install Gnomebaker. Can someone help me understand why this is
happening? Can it be resolved? Thanks.
