Question #78122 on Ubuntu changed: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/78122
Tom proposed the following answer: There's quite a few arguments going on about this. Some are saying that Ext4 is the best thing ever but plenty of others are saying to stick with Ext3 even on new installs <shrugs> it's often the way when something so relatively new appears and we've all got used to and learned to trust the existing one. It is quite a good idea to have your /home on a separate partition but it can be quite technically challenging to do that although there are guides around to help somewhere. Something to save up for the next time you install a linux-system because it's all much easier during install. If you have a particular need to change the setup you currently have then we can try to help but really for both of these issues i would echo ActionParsnips advice "If it aint broke then why fix it?". A question worth asking is "What problem would doing these things solve?" - of course in linux-land a valid answer is "Curiosity" or "Because it's there" ;) Good luck and regards from Tom :) -- You received this question notification because you are a member of UF Unanswered Posts Team, which is an answer contact for Ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuforums-unanswered Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuforums-unanswered More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
