Status: Answered => Solved
Vadim Radionov confirmed that the question is solved:
Ok, I purged and installed gdm.
On installation, there was a warning "invoke-rc.d: initscript gdm,
action \"reload\" failed"
If i start it with "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start" i get the same switching
between text and graphic modes and "ps aux
grep gdm" show two instances of /usr/sbin/gdm
