Oh dear. Have you run out of space on your system? Please empty the
wastebin first then try clicking on
System - Administration - Computer Janitor
it asks for your normal user password, not your SuperUser/Root one.
Whether or not this works try these commands on the command-line
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoclean
and this should give you back a lot of space :)
Hopefully totem should work from the command-line now?
