Question #78004 on Ubuntu changed: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/78004
Tom proposed the following answer: Mandriva is beautiful and well worth trying http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=mandriva http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=fedora There's also openSUSE, CentOS and others http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=opensuse http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=centos Did you install Ubuntu as part of a dual-boot system? If so then you already know enough to explore adding one of the above, or perhaps a different version of linux (we call them distros, short for "distributions"). Quite a few people have a multi-boot system with 1 or 2 distros and a version of Windows so that they can choose which they want to boot into when they switch their machine on. The command-line and a lot of the commands are exactly the same in almost all the different distros and often the desktop gui has many similarities too - until you customise it ;) It seems that Sam, ActionParsnip, Marcobra and others did a lot more work in this thread and i was glad to find it because i was completely stuck in the other thread and this one seemed to have a lot more proper linux knowledge in the answers :) Good luck and regards from Tom :) -- You received this question notification because you are a member of UF Unanswered Posts Team, which is an answer contact for Ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuforums-unanswered Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuforums-unanswered More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
