Question #78747 on Ubuntu changed: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/78747
Tom proposed the following answer: First step is alway to try booting up from the LiveCd by just putting the Cd in the cd/dvd-drive and reboot the machine. I think you get a menu with the option to "Try Ubuntu without making changes to this machine", this guide might help https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootFromCD Note that Ubuntu Server Edition does not have a graphical desktop on the grounds that a real server doesn't really need one and having one is just one whole bunch of things that could go wrong. So after install you might want to just install gnome or KDE or something - or else start with Desktop Edition and add some extra server functionality to it. If you booted into a desktop edition then get to a command-line by going up to the top taskbar and click on Applications - Accessories - Terminal and give us the results of sudo fdisk -l where "-l" is a lower-case "-L", this should show us the internal addresses of your drives and partitions which should help later. Also please let us know the size of your ram as that indicates how large and how important your swap partition is Good luck and regards from Tom :) -- You received this question notification because you are a member of UF Unanswered Posts Team, which is an answer contact for Ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuforums-unanswered Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntuforums-unanswered More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
