New question #78764 on linux-meta in ubuntu:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+question/78764

OS : Jaunty (2.6.28-14-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP Sat Jul 25 01:19:55 UTC 2009
x86_64 GNU/Linux)

Installed "linux-crashdump" "crash" packages,
modified menu.lst boot arguments with appropriate params (ie
"crashkernel=1...@16m" at the end of each "kernel" lines),
and having **succesfully** had a complete system hangup which generated a
vmcore.

Based on examples given in "crash -h" help command, I tried
# crash /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-14-generic /var/crash/vmcore
# crash /boot/System.map-2.6.28-14-generic /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-14-generic
/var/crash/vmcore
# crash -S /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-14-generic /var/crash/vmcore
# crash /boot/vmcoreinfo-2.6.28-14-generic /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28-14-generic
/var/crash/vmcore

What can I do with it for now ?
