[email protected] confirmed that the question is solved:
I was able to install the toolbar after moving the demonoidtorrent-
pool.xml file and the toolbar works. I then put the .xml file back
where I found it and the toolbar still works.

This Ubuntu stuff is really fun. I've been playing with it for some
days and really enjoyed it.
