Hi, We certainly agree with your stance on Mr. Shuttleworth and the direction he's taking Ubuntu. I think we are very similar, yet slightly different projects that can benefit very much from each other's work.
You are always welcome to use our code. Ones you may find useful right now are ugr-meta (main metapackages), ugr-wallpapers, ugr-ebuild (iso maker), and plymouth-theme-ugr (boot theme). Ebuild is adapted from the work of the elementary os project and is not complete yet. Wallpapers also has it's packaging adapted from them, and isn't done yet either. Most of our packages come directly from Ubuntu or the GNOME 3 team- only a handful come from us. Repackaging things is a very intensive and manual process. As for naming, we are currently unsure of our future. We cannot use ___buntu in our name because of trademark issues- Canonical will not give us permission. In the next few days I will open up a poll with many of the suggestions we have had. However, I would not be surprised if we stay as UGR.
