Hi,
We certainly agree with your stance on Mr. Shuttleworth and the
direction he's taking Ubuntu. I think we are very similar, yet
slightly different projects that can benefit very much from each
other's work.

You are always welcome to use our code. Ones you may find useful right
now are ugr-meta (main metapackages), ugr-wallpapers, ugr-ebuild (iso
maker), and plymouth-theme-ugr (boot theme). Ebuild is adapted from
the work of the elementary os project and is not complete yet.
Wallpapers also has it's packaging adapted from them, and isn't done
yet either.

Most of our packages come directly from Ubuntu or the GNOME 3 team-
only a handful come from us. Repackaging things is a very intensive
and manual process.

As for naming, we are currently unsure of our future. We cannot use
___buntu in our name because of trademark issues- Canonical will not
give us permission. In the next few days I will open up a poll with
many of the suggestions we have had. However, I would not be surprised
if we stay as UGR.

I wish you luck on your distro
JC Hulce
Creator of UGR
