That's too bad, I would have liked Mogwai, it's African and in that part of the world gnome=gremlin. Could have also played on the old movie Gremlins, they referred to them as Mogwai and the lovable one was called Gizmo (which would also be cool).
If ubuntu won't give the project legitimacy why promote their name with it?
