Dont know about the repos, but I downloaded a .tgz from the openoffice.org (targeted for Debians) and installed version 3 on my Kubuntu box. This file has a heap of .deb files, a script and some docs in its own directory structure. The script itself did not work for me and failed with errors. So I used a similar command to the installation command on the script and installed the .debs manually; and it worked like a charm. The installation line I used was along the lines of: dpkg -i --recursive ./DEBS/ where ./DEBS/ was the directory where all the .deb files from the .tgz were extracted to.
