My 64 bit Ubuntu shows the temp of each hard disk, and the core temp, in a panel applet. Did have fan speeds and more temps showing in the applet with 8.04, but their absence in 8.10 is likely due to a hasty setup rather than a Ubuntu 8.10 bug.
